Full alarm support is several days work, which I don't have right now. I've
added gcal integration for 1.2, but will
add proper alarm support soon thereafter.

I tried ActionComplete before switching to Shuffle. In AC, there is the option
of
having a reminder ("You've got things to do") pop up in the notification bar at
the
chosen day & time. The tasks due are presented in the pull down. Tap the task
in the
pulldown to manage the reminder (stop reminding, snooze). I miss that feature
so I'm
voting in support of alarms here.

I would love the riminder in the task bar and to be able to do repeat actions!
I guess you
can also do this in the calendar too though

Alarm would be annoying for me. That's one of the reasons I uninstalled Astrid
within
a day since it kept nagging me often and was interrupting me at work meetings,
etc. I
think the best approach to this is to show a notification icon with the no. of
due
actions based on the current context or for all contexts.
But detecting current context is going to be a big feature. So may be you can
show
the count based on the custom filter you are adding.

I've tried actioncomplete like Sylvia I like the way the reminders work would
add a Custom
time to snooze options, and ring tone optons, but otherwise I really like it.
Still like user
interface better with shuffle but there are just somedays I need a reminder for
everything
so I'm using astrid & AC more right now. Would be willing to donate for
reminders and
recurring actions.

What prevents me to move to Shuffle is the lack os Alerts/Reminders! I enjoy
the sync
feature with TASKS and the User Interface (UI) however not having Alarms is a
"show
stopper" to me. I'll keep with Astrid until this feature is implemented (or
until
they change the UI of Astrid).
Another nice feature that should go along with Alerts is LED blinking. It's
nice to
see the LED notification on the mobile for the Due Tasks: it's not necessary to
switch on the mobile several times to check if there are due tasks!

I used Astrid also for this, it was a disappointment to see Shuffle didnt have
this function.
For me it's very important when you have lots of work to do to have reminders.
google calendar are not cool for alarms, and i hated Astrid way to remind. I
want a ringtone and maybe a very simple popup messagge, in notification bar
would be great too, but ringtone is important.

I too vote for alarms and LEDnotification which isa great thing. Not always one
can keep sounds on and manually checking isnot a good idea.

A bit off topic, but I would really like alerts for contexts. Eg, when I get
home Alert brings up the next at home task. For home/work/shopping/etc maybe
trigger on GPS range.
I presume it would use the same alerting style/method with different trigger
condition.
This is more to remind me to look at it, and might be just 'cause I am new to
using it. Just something I thought handy related to alarms.

yes, notification and alarm would be great. Maybe you can let people choose
what kind of ringtone they want to have, so they can decide, that it would be
silent.
Or just let the people decide, if they want to activate the alarm for an task
