FR: programmable macros #79

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

Feature request -- add the ability to configure macros, where each macro
consists of a name / label and a set of keystrokes to send. Hitting a
hotkey while in a terminal displays the list of macros, and selecting a
macro sends sends its keystrokes. The keystroke definitions should include
escape sequences for sending control and special chars.

Create widget macros that will login to a stored server and run a specified
macro.

additional functionality suggestions:
 - allow for variable-length delays between simulated keystrokes
 - like an 'expect' script, macros could wait for certain strings to be sent by the remote system (or even appear on the terminal in certain locations) before continuing to send simulated keystrokes

There is an app called ServerAssistant that you may want to try out. It doesn't
have widgits, but it does allow you program frequently used commands in a
macro-ish manner. But doesn't give you a legitimate console to work in.

Ii would be really great, if someone would implement widgets (maybe I could do
it durring summer) because:
1) using multiple single purpose, non-encrypted keys is not very usable (I have
to wait too long)
2) ServerAssistant does'n provide key support and using keys is essential for
me (I use long password with weir characters)
