Edit search history on no-trackball phone #314

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
When you want to type what you search, Transdroid displays some previous search
entries, and sometimes you want to edit a previous search to avoid re-typing
something close.

But you can't doing it if the phone doesn't have a trackball.
So it would be awesome if you could add a button on each line of the search
history to paste the line in the search field, so the user can edit it easily.

Thanks a lot, Transdroid rocks anyway !!

I'll try, but it uses standard Android features at the moment so it might be
impossible or a lot of work. Thanks for your suggestion.

I've looked into this but unless I implement everything myself this is not
possible. Sorry.

I understand.
I just hope Google will soon release a new version of the standard search
history component, because more and more phones don't have any trackball and it
will be a heavy loss in ergonomy for many apps (including some Google apps like
Maps).

I totally agree. For example I know some keyboards (like Swiftkey) now include
software directional keys for that. Even more so the next version of Android
for phones might just allow for non-hardkey phones, making this even more
critical. When I one day make a tablet optimized version of Transdroid I might
be able to solve this.
