Windows XP PRO SP3, KN versions 1.7.9.1 then 1.7.9.3
Today, I was using keynote as usual, typing into notes, switching from KN to
other applications. Suddenly, the KN window refused to go behind other windows.
It did lose the focus when I switched to other applications, the title bar
changed and the other application did become active, but the KN window stayed
on top, which is of course annoying. I copied the new beta, rebooted Windows,
looked into the options, but I couldn't find a solution. The only way to get
rid of the KN window was to minimize it to tray.
I was hoping that erasing a registry key would solve my issue, but I discovered
that KeyNote obviously did not use the registry much. Then I found the
configuration files, I moved them out of KN's reach and restarted KN, saw KN
worked again as I wanted, made a diff on the files and found the AlwaysOnTop
option and then discovered the F8 key combination.
All this to explain a very simple thing:
IMO no option should be only accessible through a keyboard combination, all
options should be editable through the options dialog too.
