Field in `IPEN` which describes test context #75

During field work, "insitu" PPs are commonly performed:

  1. in sidewall/exposed material;
  2. on the “sausage” of material recovered by an SPT
  3. in the end of a UCS tube; or
  4. on cored soil/XWM.

It would be useful to have a field which allows the "context" of the PP test to be better described as "in situ" or "in sample" as these factors can affect the accuracy of the results.

Although tests performed "in sample" could be recorded in LPEN, this doesn't seem quite right as the test isn't performed in a laboratory context, and there is unlikely to be a report sheet to accompany the result.

AGS UK says a test done in the field, regardless if in a sample or in situ, should be in IPEN

Although, also need to consider that if there were multiple samples taken covering the depth interval of the PP IPEN test then it would be unclear which sample the PP was done in...

Need to think, does anyone care?

@SolidRockProgrammer I though the same but the only remark in AGS4UK 4.1.1 document is:

IPEN_IPEN shall generally be numeric data. A text form shall only be used by addition of a prefixing operator to denote greater than or less than conditions i.e. >200 when readings are above the reporting limit of the testing equipment.
