Add isValid to types and readme. #99

I've just realised this pr for the typescript types for this library: https://github.com/DefinitelyTyped/DefinitelyTyped/pull/50379#pullrequestreview-560782844

It was raised that this method is exported but not documented in the readme. It's this method okay to use? Should we document it in the readme? Cheers!

@omsmith or @brianloveswords It seems that you two are the most regular committers to this repository. Is there a chance that I could get you to quickly approve or disapprove this request?
