MIP 002: Establish DAO Framework with Autonomous Workstreams
Summary
Create a framework for the Metronome DAO and establish and fund new essential workstreams.
Motivation
This proposal introduces a DAO framework to utilize these resources in a manner that achieves all of the following:
Formalizes a DAO structure for enhanced engagement that further defines roles for Metronome DAO members.
Creates new funding mechanisms for further development and growth of the Metronome ecosystem and community.
Inspiration has been taken from other best practices in DAO governance, including early pioneers plus flagship organizations that have shown antifragility across multiple market cycles. These inspirations include Maker DAO, Shapeshift DAO, and Colony.
As Metronome becomes governed by a DAO, it will be responsible for carrying out Metronome's development and ongoing operations. We believe that a well defined, sufficiently funded DAO structure is the key ingredient to the persisting success of Metronome indefinitely into the future.
Specification
This proposal introduces a framework for autonomous workstreams that will continue Metronome's development.
Each workstream will be proposed to the DAO through a formal Metronome Improvement Proposal (MIP). Workstreams may choose to propose budgets to the DAO on a 6 month basis, but it is not mandatory as there may be workstreams that do not require budgets (e.g., governance committees). Workstreams that request funding can then spend their budgets without any need to further consult the community, but it is expected that they will use their funds as outlined in the request.
Every workstream will have an established focus and objectives. Each workstream will have an appointed workstream lead who will be responsible for communicating with the DAO and providing ongoing status updates. It is expected that every workstream will provide regular updates in terms of goals and progress made.
Workstreams can be proposed through the MIP process by any member of the Metronome community. After a workstream has been proposed it will be voted on by the DAO.
