Hopefully this continues to work into the future....

Hi, @MLBZ521

Looks like the updated URL you found isn't working, I just get a blank white page.

I'm going to close this PR, as I've not depreciated the recipes. Thread in why can be found in this PR: https://github.com/autopkg/dataJAR-recipes/pull/311

Thanks!

@paul-cossey The URL works just fine for me. Did you change the URL encoding first? Specifically the & to & before testing it?

paul-cossey commented 3 months ago

D'oh! No I didn't.

But even with that working url, the issues around the versioning, and then when installed the app only updating components means it's not something that suitable for us any longer. I've been meaning to deprecate for a little while now.

If they're still useful to you, and you want to grab the recipes and host them please feel free, I'm happy to link to them

Yeah.........I think because the app is just a Java app, that is likely the same (at it's core) between both macOS and Windows (even since it was Screencast-O-Matic)....they're just only versioning what is essentially the "GUI."

I understand why it's a problem not having proper versioning, but I may fork them then.... I'll follow up here if I do when I get to this on my list of things to do...

paul-cossey commented 3 months ago

Yeah, exactly. It also installs the updates to the current users Library 😬

Yeah....they made some improvements from SOM.....but there's still some work to be done...

To use SOM, you had to "own" the .app....so you couldn't pre-deploy it nor could it be used on multi-user Macs.
