splines and extrusion #9

is there a possibility with the current architecture to allow custom splines to be extruded into 3d objects, and than be used with boolean operations ?

avalero commented 11 years ago

It would be as simple as generating a polygonal way point from the spline mathematical formulation and then extruding it (polygon should be closed)

In any case. The best contribution would be to create a new Component that makes this under the hood but that provides the programmer an easy way to generate the spline without worrying about the formulae.

i agree. I am getting the feeling you want others to extend it to do this ?

avalero commented 11 years ago

Let's say anybody can do it. Up to now all the advances occurred when somebody needed a feature and implemented it. I can do it myself, but I should study before the splines maths, which I do not know. In anycase it is clearly a MUST DO and sooner or later, me or other will do it.

am in the same boat. Not an expert of spline maths :)

So, for now i am putting this on the back burner. Maybe someone else will do it until i get to it.
