Started to make youtube video flicker and prevent playing [Bug] #118

Closed bostjanlaba closed 1 year ago

Describe the bug

It was working perfectly until a few days back. Now if turned on, the youtube starts to flicker (looks as if it's quickly trying to refresh the video in an endless loop).

Also the switching to 4k that I have set in the extension is no longer working.

Anyone seen anything like this? In MS Edge?

Thanks

Huh that's wierd I don't have this issue 🤔

avi12 commented 1 year ago

Can you try to building the extension from its source and sideload it?

bostjanlaba commented 1 year ago

Here's the exact youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxlKvUOA16A&ab_channel=ScaryPockets

I've noticed that not all videos do that. But without the extension all videos work normally, with it, however, some have this sort of "page reloading".

avi12 commented 1 year ago

So if I understand correctly, you entered the video URL manually, and when the page finished loading, the video began "glitching"

avi12 commented 1 year ago

Do you use other extensions that run on YouTube?

bostjanlaba commented 1 year ago

Url manually yes, but that is not the reason, I can select a video in youtube. Right now I'm testing and, not sure yet, it seems like if the video is up to 1080, it plays ok (I have extension set to 4k). Perhaps since extension cannot up the resolution, it's not an issue. But with 4k video, yes, when page loads and video should start playing it's like it's throwing the video to the start all the time, reloading it. The rest of the page does not seem to be "reloading".

No other YT extensions, no.

avi12 commented 1 year ago

Can you list all of the extensions you're using?

avi12 commented 1 year ago

A while ago #96 was reported send it I found out that the reason that my extension "glitched" is due to conflicting with another YouTube extension that added the functionality to change the video quality secretly

bostjanlaba commented 1 year ago

You're correct. I've just rechecked and there was so extension for YT, though I honestly don't remember adding it. Even the author was some ksfiswhgfshgfshldsgds. Odd. But yes, this was the reason.

I guess apologies are in order for bugging you.

No worries, I'm glad the issue was resolved 😁

@bostjanlaba It took the Edge team about 3 weeks, but it finally got through
