what if there was a message saying every time somebody found an ore vein only visible to mods/admins so we can catch X-rayers

That's the point. When it really gets annoying, we know who to interrogate.

I can't imagine being alerted EVERY time somebody found an ore... That wouldn't make me want to interrogate somebody, it would just make me not want to play.

Oh. But there are plugins that alert you when somebody found an ore, but there are some filters that keeps it from spamming.
