Incorrect use of hyphens #18

Hyphens and en-dashes (dywiz and półpauza) are currently often used where the em-dash (pauza, U+2014) should be used, e.g. for parenthetical statements and to break sentences — like this.

OK, I'm not against this but if the current usage is incorrect (as opposed to just convention) and something else should be used then I would like to see the rule for this linked explicitly here.

If that is about convention however then it would be great to define it explicitly (not only examples but all the cases) and refer this issue (with corrected description) in commits adjusting our translations to it.

It’s a part of Polish punctuation and typography rules.

I know that page but I'm not that clear about it. Could you be more precise and quote the fragment directly touching the topic?

The confusing part might be their use of the word “myślnik”. They mean “znak pisarski”, which is different from, but related to, “znak typograficzny”.

I don’t have time to quote every rule right now.

It may be, I would be glad to see this sufficiently explained/defined to have point of reference nevertheless (but no hurry).
