This has already been implemented in the yet-unreleased subversion code. The 
Linux
and Mac ports of gitso in subversion are pretty stable.  However, at the moment 
the
windows version is broken. Hopefully the next release of gitso, which will have 
this
feature, will be out soon (~ month).
