slow parsing of huge tables

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. parse the content of 
https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usuario:Yrithinnd/Buenos/de with a "null" 
converter

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
on my computer, parsing this page takes about 2s.
(however, the overhead of creating a HTML page from this is negligible, i.e. if 
a HTMLConverter is used)
I haven't done any profiling but maybe such a huge wikitext is a good example 
to optimise performance on.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
3.0.18-SNAPSHOT

great work, thank you once again - this example now renders in 100ms on my 
machine (factor 20!)
