I've tried to reproduce this and can't manage it. To make that display I
simply call
the toast call within the Android OS and it should be impossible to do as you
describe, it almost sounds like it's a bug in the OS...

I would like to reassert that this issue is both
genuine and reproduceable under donut 1.6,
eclair 2.0, and 2.1 OS images. I have to kill the
task (using a 3rd party app, like Astro) to make
the toast go away.

Hello, have the same issue on HTC Desire 2.1 with actual Version loaded
yesterday. When Watts startet and clicked around while "updating" is shown,
this "updating"-Message is a tile on top of all screens and apps. Killing WATTS
via taskkiller removes the tile. Restarting Watts is then not a issue,
"updating" appears again and disappears if you left the screen alone. When
moving around in Watts while "updating" reappears, the game restarts :-)...
But the application is first class. Thanks for it.
