As I have explained in #166, it indeed works.
The extension isn't updated that often because it does more or less everything I want from it. And according to the reviews on the Marketplace, many people are happy with it too. The number of downloads mentioned by you is also an indicator that it won't be a good idea to pull it out.
If you prefer Calva, please stick with it. They do a great job, as far as I am concerned. But I'd like to highlight that I release new versions when some backward incompatible change in the underlying Clojure libraries happens.

I posted in #166 already that the extension doesn't really work. I noticed then that it's not really maintained anymore.
Would it be a good idea to archive this repository and pull the extension from the VSCode market place.
I was confused in particular because the extension has a similar number of downloads as Calva has.
