TCS347x: Demo locks up when powering off sensor or turning off ADCs #2

When monitoring live RGBC sensor data, if the ADCs are turned off or the sensor power is turned off, the demo appears to lockup, no longer responding to keypresses, even 'h'elp. The spin/P1 version of this demo/driver didn't exhibit this behavior.
