going back to first msg #23

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. have a forum with two msgs
2. on the 2nd msg, choose command back
3. prompt says, "first message"

There used to be logic that first checked if back was clicked so the prompt
is "previous message" even for the first msg.

I changed this on purposed. If a person was pressing back repeatedly, I felt
it was
helpful if they new when they had reached the top of the list.  Im closing;
re-open
if you felt the previous functionality is better.

I see the logic, but I'm worried about assuming ppl's mental models will all
work so
that they understand this feedback. Let's just stay consistent with how we give
feedback; echo what command you gave.

I disagree with this. It disrupts a common usage pattern where u are trying to
seek
back to the beginning of the forum. I actually do this often, and hearing
"First
Message" you immediately know you are at the beginning. In your model, you
have to
actually listen to the message each time. Tedious, try it. From the SVN, I
see u
havent changed this. I recommend keeping it how it is.

Seeking back to the first message almost certainly will not be a common usage
pattern. I would still say the feedback should be consistent. I have done this
and it
seems fine. Most users will want to listen to messages anyway
