8 years ago Could you run xprop -spy in a terminal, then click on the main window and see if it reports something useful? (Useful would be changes to _NET_WM_WINDOW_TYPE and/or WM_TRANSIENT_FOR, but feel free to show the full output [and perhaps add a comment in there saying "this is the output before I openFile->Settings).
If WM_TRANSIENT_FOR changes, it would be nice to figure out which window it points to via xprop -id THE_VALUE_OF_WM_TRANSIENT_FOR_HERE.

Hi. I currently ran into a problem while using any of IntelliJ products (PHPStorm, Idea etc.) with Awesome WM.
I run all IntelliJ Idea projects in the single tab with max layout in different windows. When I call a dialog window from the application (e.g. File > Settings), my main window becomes also floating and changes its type to dialog.
After that I can not longer change the focus to another (Idea) window. So I see their titles on the panel, I can click on them, but nothing happenes. The focus is still on the first project (window).
I can force the window to not become floating with these rules:
But I can not do anything with the type of the window. I've tried to fix it with callback on signal but I've got no effect. The window is still of type dialog, not in normal window mode:
The only way, I've found to restore window type so far is to restart awesome (mod + shift + r).
