Stack slices together to form a 3D mesh. Then slices can be taken in all three directions to quantify the fiber direction in each dimension.

Please enhance this description.

The data that you have right now will be very hard to convert into a mesh. We really need to know if there is a reason to do this.
What do you intend to segment meant out needs to be augmented.

Maybe I am thinking about this wrong but my understanding is that these issues are not the public facing part of our project. I am trying to use these as a list of tasks within the milestones to share with my collaborators.

No you are exactly correct that they are tasks. But you want as many of your efforts to be reusable as possible. Each task has several steps, some tasks have multiple agents, and some tasks have to be repeated. Being clear in the initial issue (eg. question, challenge, goal) will allow the project to be reproducible and potential clarify any miscommunications before they happen.

Imagine that each issue could contribute to the Introduction in a research paper. What assumptions? What is the motivation? ...
