I have been reviewing this with the internal team. We appreciate the effort here, but we have decided that we do not want to merge this in right now. Adding authenticated user pools could have unintended side effects with the way that credentials are stored in the SDK. We will revisit this topic in the future, but I am closing this pull request for now.
