Thank you for your continued support and suggestions. Given that it will be a total rewrite of the sample, we actually would like to steer you and our customers to use our dedicated service (AWS IoT SiteWise) that supports OPC-UA with a more stable and robust implementation than the sample listed here. Here is a blog post that helps with that setup: https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/iot/collecting-organizing-monitoring-and-visualizing-industrial-data-at-scale-using-aws-iot-sitewise-part-1/.
Regards, Reda
ya i know about sitewise, i was in london in aws iot bootcamp with Syed (Your AWS IoT SA).
AWS IoT SiteWise is currently in limited preview. You must request an invitation to participate. To learn more, see AWS IoT SiteWise Preview. While in limited preview, AWS IoT SiteWise is subject to change.

And according to IoT bootcamp in Berlin, it's not likely, that Sitewise will be opened for everybody, soon.
Hi AWS,
This is a question, not an issue.
I have created an aws lambda for greengrass with node opc ua 2.1.5 (code is currently on my github). The current one in AWS examples is using OPC UA 0.0.65 (2 years old). Unfortunately moving to 2.1.5, index.js will be totally redone, making your totally obsolete. If i do MR/PR will you accept it and maintain it?
Best Regards,
