Grafana data sources and Athena named queries

It would be very useful if Grafana data sources in AMG supported Athena Saved Queries (also known as Named Queries): https://docs.aws.amazon.com/athena/latest/ug/saved-queries.html

It would simplify definitions of panels that use Grafana data sources.

Nope :) , that question was to better understand the requirement. Your ask is specifically for Athena or just any data source i Grafana?

I think that any Grafana plugin that provides integration with a product that supports any SQL-like query language would make sense.

Probably, the following candidates could be investigated:

• Amazon Athena
• Elasticsearch
• Influx DB
• Microsoft SQL Server
• MySQL
• PostgreSQL
