I would be interested in that as well
Would love to have it in VS.
Good Morning @awschristou, is there already an estimation when Q-Chat will be available for Visual Studio Professional? Code suggestion will be much more efficient with Q Chat
Hi @marcoschneidertui , thank you for expressing interest in having Q Chat in Visual Studio. I don't have timeframes that I can share around this, but this is something we are investigating.
We've released a new version (1.54.0.0) of the AWS Toolkit extension today. The extension has been renamed to AWS Toolkit with Amazon Q, and contains some new functionality to chat and perform security scans using Amazon Q.
To start using Chat, you can view the chat pane using the menu item in the Q margin menu:
Then you can interact with Q, asking it software development questions, for example how to implement something in C#:
You can also select some code, and right click on it. In the context menu, there are ways you can have Amazon Q assist with your code:
These are just a few of the ways Amazon Q can help with your software development through a chat interface.
With security scanning, you can now have Amazon Q check your code for vulnerabilities. Open a C# file, and select security scan from the Q margin menu:
Any findings will be displayed in the IDE's Error List.
I will now close this issue, but please try out the new Amazon Q features, and let us know about your experience!
From the Chat panel, you have menu items that will help you file issues on GitHub, and to directly share feedback with the team:
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I like AWS Q but I mostly use the full Visual Studio 2022 and not VS Code.
Describe the solution you'd like It would be nice if AWS Q was included in the toolkit with CodeWhisperer.
Describe alternatives you've considered I can use VS Code but I prefer Visual Studio as an IDE.
