Sweet, to accelerate you a bit, Container Linux does not have:

It does have nfs support, but I haven't dug deep enough to evaluate if it has equivalent functionality as installing nfs-utils.

I'm thinking theoretically it could work if you run the Python inside a container as well as stunnel in another linked container?
