Cleaned up a number of code blocks where the first character for each line was a $. When a code block has a $ as the first character is a $, that code can't be directly copy and pasted and executed. Removing the leading $ should make it easier for end users to cut and paste code snippets from documentation.
In addition, my IDE settings clean up whitespace at the end of lines.
