I think it is not only pictures which are missing. Its all information which has kinds of format like lists, URLs and also pictures. I think thats the main problem. Pictures are just a side effect

@der4eichi as stated by @tstachlewski in the mentioned page "This is correct behaviour – unfortunately at least for now – the translate functionality will remove all kinds of HTML tags – including pictures." so no HTML tag will be preserved including images, links, formatting, etc.
