Consider ensuring that vehicle identifier and ECU identifier are extensible #15

Some users (OEMs/suppliers) may want to use more elaborate data structures for the vehicle identifier and ECU identifier. Consider trying out expanding these schemas, making adjustments to reference implementation code to make that easier, and documenting the process in code.
