Given #14 some initial options for users who cannot use their work PC might be -
Does your work allow you to run HyperV or VirtualBox? If so, you could run a temporary Windows or Linux image within that.
Get a virtual PC on Azure or AWS in US East and access via RDP but that’s going to be heavily dependent on WiFi or cell bandwidth at the hotel... at minimum, I'd suggest having a 4G/5G plan with a high data allowance.
Dual boot to a second SSD - eg internal or via USB to fast external USB like the Samsung T5/T7 (but this option might be locked down in BIOS)
Use a personal or alternative laptop.
On our side, we're looking into -
Whether we can get a high-capacity laptop and we run a few HyperV sessions on that which people can remote into.
Seems we might need to look more into this option in future conducts.
It might shortcut the setup process for many people since we can just duplicate the image.
Downside is that its only usable for the period of the workshop.
It seems the most viable option at present is the VirtualBox image. It won't help if your IT department doesn't provide you with admin rights or won't install it for you though.
