References to uncommitted objects can escape? #169

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Run the attached test

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The test succeeds even though it demonstrates that a reference to an 
uncommitted object can escape. Expected behaviour is not clear.

Of course, it is quite possible that the test itself is not valid. Please 
verify. Comments to http://etherpad.com/CKx9Kx35G7 please ;-)

As discussed at the Java meetup, this is expected behaviour. Still, might be 
useful to 
commit the test just to keep track of this behaviour..?
