Could someone from google comment on whether we are allowed to screen scrape
google.com/movies? In a similar way to http://hurwi.net/map/. So long as we add
"powered by google"?

I would also be interested in searching just for the film title, getting the
list of
all theathers (not just those in your location) where it's shown

info on
http://google.com/movies and would LOVE to get that info out via an API!

I will be also interested into such API, I've wrote an android application
based on
google.com/movies, it will be very useful for me if there was an api
You could find my application at

We're still feeding our movie program manually every week. Imagine the extra
time we'd
get for editorial stuff if we could use this api! http://www.uitinvlaanderen.be

After last change of google movies, we can see a change in the code and some
javascript functions like: google.movies.resizeApp();
Is there any documentation to use this new Google App?
Original comment by mader.mi...@gmail.com

The code is very straight-forward, though, with distinct divs and spans for
everything, with descriptive class names. this should be fairly simple to
scrape.
Although I'd of course take an API over scraping any day.

Hi,
I just found this out while playing with the weather xml api :
http://www.google.com/ig/api?movies=paris
But I'm not able to set other parameters, like t= for the theater, or mid= for
the
movie. Is this still "work in progress" or is there any documentation for it?
Thanks.
Original comment by abarreir
on 31 Dec 2009 at 12:55
@abarreir this is awesome!!
The parameter "mid" (movie_id) appears to work too, but you can't use the
movie_id
from the first XML response, we need the one that is on the "landingpage_url"
attribute, like this:
http://www.google.com/ig/api?movies=oviedo&mid=132ff148ab4eb847
Great finding! :D
Original comment by ditman
on 3 Jan 2010 at 3:43
Ooops, easy to find out, the &mid param appears to be the hex value of the
movie_id
data attribute :)
Original comment by ditman
on 3 Jan 2010 at 3:51
@abarreir Nice one!
The only problem is, I'd like to pass in the lat and lon coordinates of a
location
like you can on the movies page:
http://www.google.com/movies?near=53.790036%2C+-1.580766
When I try passing this into the url you found, it doesn't work:
http://www.google.com/ig/api?movies=53.790036%2C+-1.580766
Still, I could probably get some nearest town name and use that to get the
data, or
make my own unoffical api which I'd rather not do as it probably violates some
Google
T&Cs.
Thanks anyway.
Original comment by aemble...@gmail.com
on 3 Jan 2010 at 6:27
@aembleton Even if you have a city name, we are not able to send advanced
queries, so
it's impossible so far to build something on top of that.
@ditman You're right. We only need a few parameters to make this API usable.
Let's
see if someone's working on that ;).

I've added Google Movies API in my search engine for movies, MaFis
(http://mafis.it)
If you want to see it in action find recent movies, as "Avatar".
You can see it in the top of the results: the duration, the genre and the vote
(i've
changed number in a picture with the star).
The API works only with the latest movies, of course. If you want to know how
I've
did it, let's ask me!
(I'm italian and the API representation is of course in Italian. Please forgive
me
for my English :)

+1 for this.
I'm looking to rewrite my Flix app for WinMo (it currently scrapes from Yahoo
which is
horrible...) and an API would be so much better...
I tried the link such as http://www.google.com/ig/api?movies=paris but for my
location,
and it just returns two movies, and no cinemas?!

@james.m.billings
http://www.google.com/ig/api?movies=dublin+ireland&sort=0 only returns three

I think the reason it only returns it that it is used specifically with the
