Api key for domain and subdomains #493

Getting api key for a domain like example.com differs from www.domain.com.
Which one is correct?

Actually, I am pretty sure that, unless you're using the Google Maps Javascript 
API v2, the API key is no longer required. So you don't even have to worry 
about including it unless you are intending to send large amounts of queries 
(i.e., if you include an API key, the throttling mechanisms are slower to kick 
in).

I meant to mention this in my last post. Since this is more of a question than 
a bug, I am marking it as invalid. Like I said, I would suggest posting
