KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. Green card holders, if held at a port of entry: Resist CBP demands to sign Form I-407 to voluntarily give up your status no matter how much they try and pressure you. Demand a hearing from a judge, no one can take that right away from you. Ask to speak to an attorney, especially if you fear persecution if returned to your country of origin (always keep the number of a good lawyer on hand. If you don't have a lawyer, find one now even if you don't need them yet.) Be careful with what you disclose to CBP, but ALWAYS tell the truth. Take the names of your officers, write down your flight times, take notes and document everything being asked of you. Contact your Congressman and let them know that one of their constituents is being detained at the airport. Be prepared to provide names and phone numbers of people who were visited overseas, and have another family member call those people overseas to tell them to perhaps expect a call from a US government official to verify that information.
