"Map center on my position" problem #501

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Requirements:
    - location by wireless networks is enabled in Android settings
    - GPS not able to fix (for example, inside a building)
2. Launch MyTracks. Your position on the map is represented by the "orange
arrow", and is ok (located by wireless networks)
3. Click Menu > My Location

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The map should be centered on my position (orange arrow)
Instead, the map is centered in the middle of nowhere.

What version of MyTracks are you using?
I'm using 1.1.7.
I think the problem appeared in 1.1.5. Version 1.1.4 is OK.

On what version of Android? On what
phone?
Android 2.2 on HTC Desire.

I sent a log by Email.

You can find a video showing the problem, as attachment.

Hi ! The problem is still present, specially when using "WiFi localization",
when the GPS position is not available.

Version 1.1.5, 1.1.6 and (the last) 1.1.7 are impacted.

- I've tried to wipe MyTracks data
- Moved to Android 2.3
... no improvement

Cheers !

Thank you very much for your fix !

I hope it will be merged into the official repository.

Unfortunately, I can't test it, because I don't have the building environment,
to create apk from source code.

I can create one for you to test it.
It is a revision 0ad2294e3d58 (Oct 6) + my changes.
Let me know if it doesn't work.

Yes ! The "My position" button is working again with your version, even if the
GPS position in not available (ex: WiFi network localization).

However, the Google Maps basemap does not load ... but "My position" problem is
solved :)

Oh, my bad... Google Maps doesn't work because of the wrong API key. Well, the
API key is right (the original one), but it doesn't match my certificate
fingerprint. I just fixed that. :)
