Waiting for GPS signal, outside, with blue sky

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.I am standing outside
2.The sky is blue
3.I receive the message that it is waiting for the GPS signal

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Not that message

What version of MyTracks are you using? 
1.1.11

On what version of Android? 
Android 2.3.6

On what phone?
Nexus S

If possible please provide a log.  Either upload here or send to mytracks-

When starting a recording in My Tracks, there should be a system icon in the 
status bar indicating whether the phone has GPS signal or not.

If the system indicates that there is no GPS signal, then it is an issue with 
the hardware.
