Galaxy Nexus and/or Android 4.0.3 - "Unable to start recording. No GPS location. Try Again." #754

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open MyTracks
2. give device time to get a GPS fix (verify with "My Location" in MyTracks
menu)
3. Attempt to start a recoding

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect MyTracks to start recording. Instead, I *always* get the following
message:

"Unable to start recording. No GPS location. Try Again."

But, if I go back to the menu, "Stop Recording" is available, and when I stop
recording I see that MyTracks did in fact make a successful recording.

What version of MyTracks are you using? On what version of Android? On what
phone?

1.1.13
4.0.3 (ICS)
Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Please provide any additional information here:

I first saw this error after getting ICS/Galaxy Nexus - not sure which
triggered the bug.

I didn't see anything suspicious from the log.
Sounds like you start a recording, but don't have GPS signal, and no data is
recorded.

The "My Location" simply uses the wifi signal to get your currently position,
it doesn't mean that GPS signal is available.
