Graphics looks weird #63

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Start the game
2.Choose desert track (D2, for example)
3.Run track

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected normal graphics, got a bit scrambled one.

What version are you using? On what operating system?
1.1.1.0-ppa1-maverick, Ubuntu 10.10 32bit, ATI Radeon 4870 with ATI's
proprietary driver (from official repository).

Please pick any relevant labels like Component or OpSys related to problem.
* If game crashed please inculde log files: game.cfg, log.txt, ogre.log,
MyGUI.log (editor.cfg, ogre_ed.log for Editor) right after crash, found in
game's user folder (see section Config in Wiki page Paths).

Please provide any additional information below.

I guess that this got something to do with OGRE 3D, as I had similar problems
with Tile Racer (also OGRE 3D game). Other 3D games (FPS's, FRP's, etc.) run
just fine.

This kind of thing looks like a driver problem. Try disabling all effects
(bloom, HDR, motion blur). What if you'd try latest drivers straight from ATI?
(I know that's a bit of work, but there's not really much to go on in this bug
report...) Do the other environments (e.g. jungle) work?

Thanks for your answer, I'll try latest ATI driver during the weekend. J* and
S* tracks are OK, the others have artifacts. I guessed it's kind of OGRE
problem, maybe I should try their bug tracker. Great game, btw!

This looks for me like a faulting memory problem either RAM or GPU's RAM but
strange that only on Ogre. Only some textures are corrupted (overlay too, so
size and shaders don't matter).
What happens when you reload one track ? Does it have the same errors on the
same textures or everytime it is different ?

Well, since on my machine I also have (cough) windows (cough), I have no
problem with games there, even very demanding ones are working just fine, so I
guess the hardware is OK. I just installed latest ATI drivers, and nothing
changed. Also, I tested what works of my current 3D games and here are the
results:
Games with artifacts: TileRacer (almost unplayable), Stunt Rally (partialy with
artifacts), SuperTuxKart (some artifacts; the game was perfect a few weeks
ago), Syntesity (minor artifacts), Egoboo (almost unplayable)
Games without artifacts: Red Eclipse, Alien Arena, Blood Frontier, EDuke32,
Platinum Arts Sandbox, MegaGlest, 0 A.D., Amnesia Dark Descent demo, SoulFu,
Speed Dreams, VDrift and Heaven Unigine benchmark (very demanding).

This probably has nothing to do with Stunt Rally, as I have other games with
artifacts, so, please, close this non-bug. Thank you for suggestions and sorry
for waisting your time.

P.S. Just for fun, here is my TileRacer screenshot... VEEERY trippy...

And, I forgot to answer: always the same textures have problems.
