Tried different bionic images versions (from 0.7.9 to 0.7.14).

After tests I see that I have issue when installed "snapd" or it can be issue with "squashfs-tools" which dependence of "snapd". Didn't find how to fix it.

Halytskyi commented 5 years ago

Seems upgrading snapd to the latest version (2.38) and kernel to linux-image-4.4.167-1161-rockchip-ayufan-g6f1664023387 solved issue. Still testing.

valorl commented 5 years ago

@Halytskyi How can I get those debug logs? I suspect I may have a similar issue, roughly ever other time I do sudo reboot now, Rock64 just doesn't boot up.

I have an HDMI cable in the whole time and the screen doesn't even turn on and I'm unable to ping it either. The white LED usually stays on (I have seen it turn off too sometimes though) and I just have to press the power button in this situation to bring the board back up.

Halytskyi commented 5 years ago

Nope, still have the similar issues when snapd installed :(

@valorl try upgrade kernel to the linux-image-4.4.167-1161-rockchip-ayufan-g6f1664023387 version, should solve issue with HDMI (I had no working HDMI on some older kernel versions). I getting logs via serial console, see https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=5029

valorl commented 5 years ago

@Halytskyi I don't think it's an HDMI problem in my case. It works fine when it boots, it's just that sometimes, I do sudo reboot now and the machine just doesn't seem boot back at all and doesn't even wake up the HDMI-connected screen. In that case, I have to intervene and press the power button again, then it boots.

Is there any other way I can get any debug information from the failed boots? I don't have the tools needed to set up a serial connection.

lukewebdev commented 5 years ago

I am having "failed to get leakage" and "failed to get pvtm" issues on every boot now..it happened a couple times and a reboot resolved and now I can't boot at all. I was working on my wifi trying to get it to automatically connect when it began, not sure if that is related.

Im getting this too, it reboots sometimes but othertimes it gets really stuck. This never seems to occur with poweroff

I encountered the same problem in Ubuntu 20.04 with kernel 4.4.194. This problem occurred probabilistically( 50% ) when snpad call the squashfs driver. It will disappear if I close the squashfs driver or purge the snapd. There may be some problem in the squashfs driver.
