The simplest solution is to add "Places We Love" to the layer picker, as mentioned by @flibbertigibbet above:
Discoverability will be low, but so will implementation cost. I think it'd be harmless to try it.
If we want to go beyond that, it'd be worth looking into doing a full Explore mode on mobile.
That would mean enabling the to/within toggle (isochrone), as well as "listing" the featured destination summaries in a swipeable carousel of place cards below the map, like we do with multiple itinerary summaries when getting directions:
Since place cards and infowindows are redundant, this would be a nice way to avoid the awkwardness of mobile infowindows.
I think the bulk of this work would be in SASS, so I'd take care of that.
On the topic of infowindows, they can get pretty big on mobile:
So, assuming we limit ourselves to the simple solution of adding "Places We Love" to the layer picker and hence need to show mobile infowindows, we should elide the place description on mobile:

Optional task in the current contract- not yet authorized.
No explore tab on mobile, but want to display map of location pins.
Possibly by making locations a layer in the switcher (show without sidebar).
