Preserve formatting when copying out of a game #79

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start a game with some bold or italics. For most games, just start the
game up and do "look" so you get the room name in bold above the room
description.
2. Select the room description and name above.
3. Paste it into OpenOffice Writer

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: formatting (that is, bold, italics, etc) are preserved.
Actual: Formatting is lost

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Ubuntu 8.04

To be honest, I'll probably never use this feature. I mostly tested for
it's presence out of curiosity. And it does add a fair amount of
complexity, as you need support multiple clipboard formats, both plain text
and at least one richer form. Still, it would be a nice touch, and might
be useful to people writing reviews or books that contain snippits.

It would be nice to have.

I'd like to sit on it until the Glk stylesheet standard comes out, as that might
necessitate a rewrite of a lot of the current style handling code. I'm
reluctant to
add much additional complexity until that happens, which should be later this
year or
early next.

Has it really been a year since the early discussions of Glk CSS? Taking this
one off the active issues list for now, but I will keep it in mind.
