When a Vacillating Voidcaller gets hit by magic (Holy, Fire, Nature, Frost, Shadow or Arcane) damage they become resistant to that type and start using a corresponding elemental spell
When not hit by magic they melee
Expected Blizzlike Behaviour
They use Shadow Bolt as a default when not hit by magic
Engage a Vacillating Voidcaller by walking into one
Extra Notes
Vacillating Voidcaller has a strange behaviour: when I attack him with melee, he uses melee, but if I run away from him, he doesn't move and stays in place. At some point (at around 60% health) if I run away, he starts casting Shadow Bolt.

The shadow bolt casting in your video was caused by the voidcaller being energized by the nearby anomaly thing (which apparently is a shadow spell)
I do not know if that actually should count as shadow
