Switched from PostGIS back to Microsoft SQL Server. @smrazgs This is what she ended up doing, correct?
yes, the current project databases that have multiple data editors are on SQL server. The plan is that these will be migrated to non-versioned PostGreSQL or file geodabases when the project map is complete

The NCGMP09 spec uses CamelCase field names. ArcSDE 10 running on PostGIS will only use all lower case field names. Thus, the tool bar breaks. The example Janel found is when adding a new map unit in the map unit editor, all the units already there have their symbol reset...
