Currently: In the ribbon bar, the buttons are called "Contacts and Faults", "Map Units", and "Map Unit Polys". The dropdown for each of these contains two buttons, one to add, one to edit, with the corresponding word prepended to the names in the previous sentence.
Which are you proposing to change, the names in the ribbon or in the dropdowns?
If the ribbon buttons, I don't think the verbs add useful information, and they will make the ribbon look cluttered (e.g. "Draw Map Unit Polygons" is a long string to print under that button).
If the add/edit buttons in the dropdown, I'm not sure I see how to apply this there. Each button has a different function, and the Add/Edit verbs specify that. The exception to this is the dockpane for Map Units. Since that is not derived from MapTool, the pane doesn't know whether the user wants to add or edit until they do something with the Map Unit combobox. Consequently, the subheading in that pane says Add/Edit until they do. Arguably, I could get rid of the dropdown on that ribbon button. I just added it for consistency with the other two.
Regarding "Contacts" vs "Contacts and Faults": we should use whichever the users use. Either one is fine with me.
Regarding "Polys" vs "Polygons": same, whichever is fine with me.
We have decided that rather than changing names, we would split up the ribbon so that "draw" buttons will be separated from "management" buttons.
This is in b3eb8f5c6a04de6f84ede3060c8fcb6a9b69d2fd. Rather than lumping the three buttons in Projects section of the ribbon, there is now a Tables section, housing Map Units, and a Features section, housing Contacts And Faults and Map Unit Polys.
How do you feel about changing the following buttons to have new names
