Here's the official report from Microsoft:

Because the new Connection Monitor in Azure Network Watcher enhances your monitoring experience, we will be retiring the Network Watcher Connection Monitor (classic) on 29 February 2024. We encourage you to start using the new Connection Monitor in Network Watcher to create new tests and take advantage of the enhanced functionality.

Reduced Management Jul 01, 2021 You will no longer be able to add new connection monitors in Connection Monitor (classic), but you can still use existing ones

Impact

Connection Monitor (classic) in Azure Network Watcher is retiring on 24 May 2021, start using the new Connection Monitor in Network Watcher instead.

Required Action

Here's the official report from Microsoft:

Starting 1 July 2021, you will not be able to add new connection monitors in Connection Monitor (classic) but you can continue to use existing connection monitors created prior to 1 July 2021. To minimize service disruption to your current workloads, please migrate from Connection Monitor (classic) to the new Connection Monitor in Azure Network Watcher before 29 February 2024.
