On 31 March 2023 DevOps Starter experience will be retired, and you won’t be able to create new DevOps Starters. The corresponding REST APIs for Microsoft.DevOps and Microsoft.VisualStudio/accounts/projects resources will be retired as well. This won’t impact your existing CI/CD pipelines which were created using DevOps starters earlier. It also won’t impact your application code, its deployments, or Azure resources which host the application.

However, you will be unable to see the dashboard for an existing DevOps Starter. We encourage you to make the switch to Azure Developer CLI before 31 March 2023 to continue to use the rich benefits of DevOps.

Azure Developer CLI has similar capabilities to DevOps Starter. The Azure Developer CLI is a developer-centric command-line tool for building cloud apps. The Azure Developer CLI is a set of commands that allows you to work consistently across Developer CLI templates, DevOps workflows, and your IDE (integrated development environment).

From now through 31 March 2023, you can continue to use DevOps Starter, but it won’t receive any significant new features.

After 31 March 2023, you won’t be able to view an existing DevOps Starter dashboard. DevOps Starter doesn’t store any information, but users can get the same information from:

Azure resource details in Azure portal – In Azure portal, visit the resource page for which you had configured DevOps Starter.

Pipeline and deployment details in GitHub Actions or Azure pipelines – Visit GitHub Actions webpage or the Azure DevOps webpage to look at the pipeline runs and deployments.

Monitoring details in Application insights – Visit application insights menu in the corresponding Azure resource to look at the monitoring charts.

Impact
