Feature request: add a new header #48

Hello,

I would like to request a new feature for a future version of mu4e:

A function to add a new header to any message (not just new messages), on an
individual message basis (unlike Mutt's customized headers)

This would allow the user to have more flexibility with his maildir archive.

Use case: I have many thousand messages from one author, and I would like to
keep all his emails in one folder, while being able to divide them on the book
he is working on. I would then add a custom header to a subset of his messages,
specifying the book title (or its bibliographical keycode).

Thanks for considering it!

Well, mu4e/mu doesn't really want to change the contents of messages, but it
does support searching for the 'X-Label:' field. So if you use some other tool
to set your tags in that field, mu/mu4e can search them (see the mu-find
manpage).

That is enough for me. I can try to use mu from the command line, and then
apply a new X-Label: using awk, or perhaps elisp.

Thank you!

There's also a tool called 'formail' (I think it's part of procmail) that can
add / remove headers.

Anyway, closing this issue now.
