New contract wizard #131

The process of adding a new contract is labourious. There are many steps which don't flow one to the other: Find meter New contract Find the newly created contract Add meter Add tender Edit contract to select tender When the contract starts: edit contract status.

Can we design a wizard which goes through these steps?

There are 2 ways of doing a new contract - via the contracts search page or find the client and ask for a new contract from there (this saves a drop down on the new contract window). I don't think it can be done from a Find meter?

The issue may be the "Find the newly created contract" step. Shaun - can the result of the add contract be a "contract display"? Then the add tender and add meters are available as needed (I would rather not force all the actions onto the user as a single step).

The other improvement is to have a "renew contract" button on a contract display - this could create a new contract, add the existing meters and create a tender to the incumbent supplier. Ending on the new contract display and leaving further tenders to be created as needed.

The first thing I'd do is check the meter hasn't already been put on a new contract, hence starting there. You also need to know the meter number or ID.

The 'renew contract' suggestion would make sense as the meter(s) are on the old contract.

The requirement for a wizard is partially negated if we can resolve issue #138.

Leaving the user on the new contracts Display page has helped a lot - closing this.
