This is late -- way past the 72-hour window to avoid getting a 0. It was due last Friday at noon. Points will be deducted, but I won't give you a 0. Please don't let it happen again, as I won't be as generous next time.

Hello professor,

I was about to send you an email about this actually. Im embarrassed to write to let you know that I did not hand in Fridays assignment on time, and I hate to use excuses but I have been going through a very difficult time recently, for which I have been seeking treatment.

Due to several circumstances last week, I did not realize until this morning that I forgot the deadline. I would greatly appreciate you if you could offer me an extension for this project only, I am happy to provide a medical note by tonight if necessary. Thank you for your understanding.
