A couple of possible fixes:

Change order of row/column looping? (Doubt this is the issue).
Calculate distances and bearings between the mask points and the detectors inside the PROCEDURE_SECTION. Less efficient but means that large matrices don't have to be carried around.

Nothing was wrong after all. Problem due to local set-up.
