Messaging App - Disable forced conversion of 3 SMS to MMS

It would be great if you could do a mod like this to LCR:

When you write more than 320 characters on an SMS and hit 3 SMS the app 
forcefully converts the message to a MMS.
On most places in the world MMS is much more expensive than SMS and in many 
places you get unlimited SMS but no MMS, so this becomes very expensive.
Also, if you ant to send the message to someone with a phone that does not 
support MMS you just can't.

Some people say this was fixed (option to disable) in Froyo and that the 
manufacturers like ACER are using an old version of the Messaging app, but I 
don't know if it is true. If it is, you can just add the AOSP Messaging app 
just like you added the AOSP Dialer.

I'm pretty sure HTC stock messaging app, while looking the same, has this limit 
set to 6 sms by default.
